Desk Review Rating

The evaluation process of articles submitted to the PMKT is carried out in two sequential stages: the desk review and the triple evaluation by peer reviewers.

In the desk review, the Editor-in-Chief, without any identification of the authors, analyzes the articles received to assess their relevance to the scope of the journal and their potential to significantly contribute to knowledge in the field of study in the areas of marketing and research marketing, opinion and media.

After this first evaluation, the Editor-in-Chief may suggest changes to the article, both in terms of the content of the subject and methodology used, as well as in relation to the adequacy of the text to the standards of writing and presentation of the American Psychological Association (APA) 1.

When the submitted article is not in line with the journal's editorial policies or rules, it will be returned to the author(s), who are notified of the decision within sixty days from the date of submission.

Peer Evaluation

Articles approved in the previous stage – desk review – are forwarded to three of the reviewers that make up the journal's body of reviewers for evaluation in the Triple Blind Review system.

The referees are professors and researchers associated with stricto sensu postgraduate programs at national or foreign educational institutions and most of them have a minimum doctorate degree.

The Editor-in-Chief may or may not accept an article after it has been evaluated by the system (Triple Blind Review), which guarantees anonymity and confidentiality for both the author (or authors) and the reviewers.

When the reviewers suggest adjustments to the article, the authors will be granted, at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief, a period of thirty days for the incorporation of the suggestions and corrections required.

After carrying out the suggested adjustments and verifying them by the Editor-in-Chief, the articles are submitted to spelling, grammar and adaptation to the norms adopted by the journal and to the final editing of the document.

The conclusion of this process does not imply the immediate publication of the article, it is up to the Editor-in-Chief, in accordance with editorial policies, to prepare the guidelines and decide the appropriate time for publication. Articles that are not published immediately will be made available in Ahead of Print (the type of advance publication of approved articles). The texts are made available in definitive format, that is, with the spelling, grammar and editing completed.

Assessment Criteria – Assessments are made using a standardized assessment form, in which grades are assigned to various assessment items, with space for personalized comments, which are forwarded to the author(s) in case of conditional acceptance, corrections or refuse.

The assessment will be carried out in relation to:

  1. Current topic - Adaptation to the editorial line of the PMKT, originality, impact, interest and applicability to research theory and/or practice;
  2. Clarity of objectives – There should be no doubt as to the core element of the article;
  3. Methodological adequacy – Methodology used must be adequate to the research problem;
  4. Methodological correction – Correct application of the methodology used;
  5. Clarity in development – Adequate integration between objectives, theories, methodologies, results and conclusions;
  6. Analysis and Results – Form of presentation and discussion of analyzes and results;
  7. Conclusions – Basis and correction regarding the objective(s) and the results obtained;
  8. Limitations and suggestions – Presentation of limitations and restrictions to research and suggestions for further studies on the topic;

  10. Compliance with the editorial standards of scientific publications of the American Psychological Association (APA);

  3. Not approved, being returned to the author, accompanied by the respective justifications for non-approval.
